Eunice L. Wichmann

On August 17, 2012, Eunice L Wichmann died of complications from a head injury. Born October 19, 1917, in Jessie, ND, raised in Cooperstown, ND, graduated from St Olaf College, Northfield, MN. Taught school in Wauban, MN, where she met her husband, Wendell W Wichmann. They were married for almost 71 years before his death in May, 2012. Eunice traveled the USA and the world following Wendell and his military career before settling in Timonium. She taught at CRI - Children’s Rehabilitation Institute - in Reisterstown (now part of Kennedy Krieger at Johns Hopkins) and then taught Special Education for Baltimore County Public Schools at Woodlawn Senior and Ridgely Junior High for 14 years. Her generous and loving spirit was enjoyed by everyone she met. Eunice was an active member of St Timothy Lutheran Church for 51 years, a PEO Sisterhood member for 64 years, enjoyed travel and family activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell, son Warren, and a sister and brother. Survived by daughter, Kathlyn Cathell and son-in-law, Edward Cathell of Phoenix, MD, son, Wayne Wichmann and daughter-in-law, Nell, of Williamsburg, VA. Grandchildren, Deborah Stevens of Forest Hill, MD, Michael Pyle of Greensboro, NC, Andrew Wichmann of Columbia, MD, Allison Wichmann of Charleston, SC, and Christina Jones and husband, Ben Jones, of Mechanicsville, VA. Great grandchildren, Ashley Pyle, Eric and Markus Stevens, Grace Wetherington, and Ella Jones. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at St Timothy Lutheran Church, 100 E Timonium Rd, Timonium, MD 21093, at 1030AM on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Family will receive guests at a brunch following the service. Internment at Arlington National Cemetary, along with her husband, on Monday, October 22, 2012. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the ARC of Baltimore , 7215 York Rd, Baltimore, MD 21212, the PEO STAR Scholarship Fund, c/o PEO Executive Office, Treasurer’s Dept, 3700 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50312, or charity of your choice.
